I sent one text message at 8:13 am to Hannah Tak "you should give jasmine a ride. call her" she didn't (call or give her a ride). Drafted an email to IT Help Desk reporting airport failure in room 304.

His life has been called the the most documented human life in history." GOOD magazine, p91 Sept/Oct 2007

Over the years due to one odd reason or another I have habitually saved every receipt every bill, every postcard, many food wrappers and labels, magazines, class handouts, and various flyers which catch my eye or are forced into my hand. I find it hard to let these things go, whether it is for informational purposes or as part of a larger study in design I'm still not sure, but I do know that I do it. Now I am diagnosing myself with chronophilia and using this blog as an alternative to the various bags, boxes, bins and folders which are jam packed with saved tidbits of information. While I doubt I can maintain a 15-minute update, I do spend many hours tied to computers so frequent updates just may happen. I will try however to report at least once daily (when possible) so that in the future I may be able to compile data. Some concrete numbers I would like to regularly record are: energy usage (taken from apartment energy bill), gasoline usage (gleaned from the few instances where I myself drive or are driven or from distance traveled via bus), distances traversed, money spent on food, natural gas usage (taken from gas bill), communication (via emails sent/recieved, length/number of telephone calls, text messaging and instant messaging), and full charges of my powerbook. It's incredible how contemporary technology allows for the tracking of all this data to the point of making penoptic profiling easy as pie for governments as well as businesses. I find this project to be an opportunity to play their game and profile myself. A final goal of this project is to monitor how I try to be aware of and reduce my negative impact on our environment and hopefully stimulate others into following suit. Large changes need to occur, but evolution is a slow process that needs only a tiny start.
